The Momnibus: Tech to Save Moms Act

Introduced by Representative Nikema Williams and Senator Ben Ray Lujan

Background

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has identified “innovative telehealth payment and service delivery models for maternal health in rural and underserved areas” as a key opportunity to improve access to high-quality care for moms, based on lessons learned during the COVID-19 public health emergency.¹ While digital tools are not the only solution to America’s maternal health crisis, they can play an important role in addressing specific challenges facing patients and providers, particularly in underserved areas.

The bipartisan Tech to Save Moms Act makes investments in evidence-based digital tools to reduce maternal mortality, severe maternal morbidity, and maternal health disparities – particularly in rural and underserved communities.
