House Veterans Affairs Committee Announces Hearing on Momnibus Legislation, Underwood to Testify in Support

March 19, 2024

WASHINGTON – This Thursday, the House Veterans Affairs Committee will conduct a committee hearing to consider the Maternal Health for Veterans Act, the first Congressional hearing to consider legislation from the Momnibus Act in 2024.

Rep. Lauren Underwood (IL), the lead sponsor of the legislation, and Co-Chair of the Black Maternal Health Caucus, will testify in support of the legislation:

Subcommittee on Health Legislative Hearing on Pending Legislation

Thursday, March 21 at 2:00 PM ET

360 Cannon House Office Building

Livestream

The Maternal Health for Veterans Act was added to the Momnibus to reauthorize critical investments in maternal health for veterans from the Protecting Moms Who Served Act, which was signed into law by President Biden in 2021.

The full Momnibus package is the only comprehensive legislative solution to improve maternal health outcomes and combat maternal mortality across America. The package makes critical investments in addressing social determinants of health, funding community-based organizations, growing and diversifying the perinatal workforce, and improving data collection processes.

The Black Maternal Health Caucus was co-founded by Underwood and Rep. Alma Adams (NC) in 2019.
