Underwood, Adams Announce Speakers, Agenda for 2024 Black Maternal Health Caucus Stakeholder Summit

August 16, 2024

Today, Representative Lauren Underwood (IL-14), in collaboration with Representative Alma Adams (NC-12), announced the agenda and speakers for the 2024 Black Maternal Health Caucus (BMHC) Stakeholder Summit in Joliet, IL, taking place on Monday, August 26, 2024.

The summit will feature Chiquita Brooks-LaSure, Administrator, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services; Carole Johnson, Administrator, Health Resources and Services Administration; Charles Johnson, Founder of 4Kira4Moms; Tatyana Ali, actress, Baby Yams Founder, and celebrity advocate for March of Dimes; and BMHC Co-Founders and Co-Chairs Underwood and Adams, among others.

The summit will highlight recent federal progress to improve maternal health outcomes, provide trainings on how to access federal funding secured by the Caucus and other resources, spotlight opportunities to continue to advance the Momnibus Act and key maternal health legislative priorities, and help build partnerships and strategies to end the maternal health crisis in the United States. It will also include a resource fair where attendees can learn more about local services. This is the fourth annual Stakeholder Summit since the Caucus was founded by Underwood and Adams in 2019.

Summit programming will be available both in-person and virtually. Interested attendees – both in-person and virtual – can RSVP here. A livestream will be available here.
